It’s only mid-February but this year already seems to be flying by! It’s half term in my house, but over at our nurseries in Farnborough, North Camp and Pirbright it’s business as usual as the fantastic team lay on lots of fun and educational activities for the children.
It’s always a little quieter at nursery during half terms; with older siblings at home some families take some time off, but we still have plenty of fun and this week it was Pancake Day one of the highlights of the winter months! Here we share some of our other highlights from the year so far:
Pirbright Day Nursery
Following a trip to the library to find out about space, we made some fab stars to hang around the nursery and borrowed all sorts of space books for our interest table. We also had fun writing secret letters for the aliens, by creating marks on paper using wax candles. The children then revealed their messages using water based paints.
We’ve also been getting some “hands on” learning over the last few weeks. From learning about weights and measures with porridge oats, getting creative with shaving foam, sensory play with mash potato(!), using our fine manipulative skills with tweezers, and making yummy pizzas – we like to encourage the children to try things for themselves.
Of course, the winter months often means it’s harder to get outside for outdoor activities. But we’re a hardy bunch at Pirbright Day Nursery so we’ve made the most of any dry days to get out in the garden. We’ve also had some snow days too!
Pear Tree Day Nursery North Camp
Over at our North Camp nursery the children have had a creative start to the New Year. We’ve been enjoying lots of arty based activities as you can see from these fabulous paintings.
We’ve also been busy in the kitchen making everything from shortbread and homemade pizzas to Valentines Day cupcakes.
Pebbles Day Nursery Farnborough
We’ve had a very busy start to the year at Pebbles Day Nursery, including a few new members of staff. So apologies for not having lots of pictures to share, it’s all my fault! However, we have this great picture of the children enjoying some water play, thanks to Sarah who got them exploring using all kinds of different kitchen and arty stuff – bubbles, glitter etc.
I promise I will make more of an effort to capture some of the magical moments and activities experienced at Pebbles every day: watch this space!
If you have friends or family who are thinking about putting their child’s name down at a local nursery, why not share this blog post with them so they can find out what a great time the children at our nurseries have.
