Meals & Food

At Pebbles we cater for all types of little taste buds and are committed to offering our children healthy, nutritious, home cooked balanced meals throughout their time with us. This includes breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks in between. All of our meals are prepared and cooked on site by our incredible chef Dawn.

Dawn is passionate about cooking meals from scratch and is always eager to learn new recipes and share ideas. Dawn has a brand new fully refurbished kitchen that she works wonders in cooking homemade scotch eggs, yummy soups, fish cakes and makes the best roast potatoes to date! Our weekly food menu is displayed in each of our nurseries and is rotated on a three weekly basis offering a Summer and Winter menus. We believe that introducing children to experience foods from different cultures and background to ensure this widens their experiences of the world around them and enhances those taste buds.

We can cater for any preferences and dietary requirements that your child may have and are always on hand to help and support introducing new foods and textures. We ask that parents inform us of any requirements during their child's settling in sessions. We understand that some children can be fussy eaters so we encourage them to try everything on their plate, naturally at nursery they tend to copy the other children meaning they are more inclined to try new foods. The team is fully experienced in supporting your child in becoming confident to try new flavours.

Milk and water are provided to the children with their meals and throughout the day.

Children play a large part in meal times. We encourage the children to set the table for lunch and clear away after themselves learning those all-important life skills. Manners are a huge part of meal times and these are role modelled by the practitioners throughout. Children use ceramic plates and knives and forks as they would at home or in a restaurant, it is important to trust our children with these items so that they understand they need to take care of their belongings. Children’s self-serve their own meals and socialise around the table with one another.

We are proud to say that Pebbles have a 5 star food hygiene rating which is the highest achievable. We have yearly inspections to check we are complying with all food hygiene rules and regulations.

We are committed to provide menus of a high standards rather than your usual chicken nuggets and chips - children need to experience different flavours, fruits, vegetables, meats and more. The children at Pebbles favorite snack is Anti paste which includes salamis, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, fresh breads etc.
